CARDS FOR DISCIPLINE

Each child has 4 cards in a pocket on his/her desk.   Listed below is the color and meaning of each card:

Green card – means warning.  (Students will be given an opportunity to correct misbehavior prior to losing this card.  EXAMPLE:  If a child shouts out an answer to a question, I may say to him/her "We do not shout out answers in class.  You may choose to raise your hand or have your green card taken away."  If the misbehavior continues I begin by taking away the green card)

Blue card – means 5 minutes of recess is taken away.  (This amount of time will increase as the year progresses)

Orange card – means their fish is removed from the "COOL SCHOOL".  Treasure box privileges and candy jar privileges are lost.

Pink card – means we will be going to the office and calling parents.  This lets the student know we are working as a team and want the best possible education for him/her.  We are in school to learn and the best learning cannot take place with constant class disruptions.

NOTE:  Students start each day with all four cards in the pocket.  During the first quarter only, after lunch, all cards that were taken away in the morning are returned so each student begins the afternoon with all four cards. By the end of the first quarter, the students should be acclimated with the rules and procedures.
