Reminders:
9/26/08 - Accelerated Reader individual goals will be the same as the first quarter for students in 2 - 8 for the second quarter. First grade students will be tested on the Star Reader assessment to determine if they are able to move to the Accelerated Reader program. Parents of first grade students will be notified in October or early November of the Star Reader results.

9/26/08 - Attn: Students in grades 4 - 8 who reached 100% of their Accelerated Reader goal for the first quarter. Arrangements have been on hold until we were sure we could obtain the Schlarman High School's bus for our trip. We now have the date of Tuesday, October 21, 2008 set. We are now working on what we will be seeing in Chicago.
Since arrangements are still in progress we cannot give you a permission slip of tell you the cost of the trip. Our best estimate is that it will cost each student $20.00 for the bus fee and the attractions in Chicago. Each student will also need lunch money on that day. This will give each student time to work on earning their field trip money over our three week break.
Permission slips will be sent home on Monday, October 20, 2008.
We are looking forward to a great trip.
Mrs. Dolbee & Mr. Croy

8/4/08 - We still have several families who have not returned their emergency contact forms. It is imperative that we get these immediately.

8/4 - The RVS gradebook company has not completed their updates as of this date. Any student (grades 4 - 8) in academic trouble with grades of Ds or Fs will receive a letter today. This letter needs to be signed by parents and returned to school on 8/5/08.

7/30/08 - Success!! We are excited to report that our first big Jr. High field trip this year will be on August 14, 2008 to Chicago for the Architectural Tour on the Chicago River. We do need some chaperones so please make sure you have followed the listing below and call the office if you are interested in chaperoning this year. - Thanks

Re:  Croy/Dolbee Accelerated Reader Challenges
  & Jr. High Field Trips

We have been pleased with the number of parents who have offered their assistance as chaperones for our field trips. We are sorry that we always have to turn away some in order to give everyone a fair chance at participating in our outside educational experiences and thank you for your understanding.  After all, taking turns is one of the things we stress!!  We hope to have several of these opportunities available to our students this year..... EVEN with the escalating cost of fuel!
In order to participate as a chaperone:
    1. Have all of the paperwork required by the Diocese of Peoria completed and on file in the office.
    2. Your child needs to qualify for the trip.
    3.  Obviously be available on the day of the trip and be willing to supervise a group of children according to the guidelines established by the school and the teachers in charge.  It will also be necessary for parent chaperones to pay the bus and entrance fees for whatever exhibits we will attend.
    4.  If you have the first three in order, please call the office and leave your name with Mrs. Huckstadt stating that you would like your name listed on the Jr. High Field Trip Chaperone List. When we have a trip scheduled that requires additional chaperones we will draw names from the list for as many chaperones as we need. (It should be noted that we will not always need parent chaperones.) Also, please call the office and leave your name even if you have mentioned in passing in the hallway that you would like to go on trips. This will ensure we do not inadvertently leave anyone out of the fun.
    5. If your name is drawn and you go on a trip, your name will then be at the bottom of the list for future trips... hence the taking turns rule.
Thank you for agreeing to chaperone--- we couldn’t do it withou t you!

Sincerely,

Zoe Dolbee, Mark Croy, Lynn Dyskievicz-Dick

Our first Jr. High field trip (grades 6, 7, & 8) will be the Architectural River Cruise on the Chicago River. Approximate cost will be $10.00 bus fee; $10.00 boat fee. Lunch will be at a yet to be determined restaurant.... stay tuned!!
