Dear Parents,

The first full week was very successful.  Next week we will be working on the following topics:

READING:  Rhymes, punctuation marks, elements of fantasy/reality, story characters
MATH:  Patterns:  AABB, ABB, ABC
RELIGION:  Creation
PHONICS/LANGUAGE ARTS:  Letters Ee and Ff and activities
SOCIAL STUDIES:  Importance of having rules, consequences

IMPORTANT NEWS AND INFORMATION:

1. We will attend Mass on Friday, August 8.  No shorts or jeans on Mass days please.  Students may change into Dennis Uniform shorts after Mass.
2. If you have not already done so, please send in 8 first-class stamps for our senior partner project.
3. Our first faith witness calendar is in your child’s home folder today.  The project was selected by him/her.  If you wish to select a more suitable project for your house, feel free to do so.  At the end of the month, please remember to sign and return the calendar.  These count as a grade for Religion.  Please remember to indicate church attendance for each week.  A complete project description is in the orange folders sent home last week.
4. Our prayer for the first quarter, which will be tested near the end of the quarter, is the Glory Be prayer.  Please recite this prayer with your child at home and we will continue to do so at school.

GLORY BE TO THE FATHER, AND TO THE SON, AND TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, AS IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING, IS NOW, AND EVER SHALL BE, WORLD WITHOUT END.  AMEN.

5. Thank you to Mrs. McHone, Mrs. Lewis, and Ms. Cole for helping with our trip to the library, and to Mrs. Smith-McCray for offering assistance.  We appreciate your willingness to help with class projects.  Trips are not always feasible without extra parental help.  Thanks!
6. Do you know what is in the mystery box?  Here are this week’s clues:  1.  It’s a circle.  2.  It has numbers on it.  3.  A conductor uses it.  Thank you to Alex and family for this week’s object and clues.  The mystery box will go home with Jada for next week.
7. Thank you to Aubriauna for treasure box.  We appreciate your generosity.
8. Our box top total is 955 box tops.  We need 1,600 by the end of August.  Thank you to Sarah for box tops this week.
9. Give yourselves a great big hand!  We received 100% of the first homework assignment back on the due date.  You may not realize the important habit you are starting with your child regarding completing and returning homework.  Wonderful job!

      Have a wonderful weekend.
