September 5, 2008 Dear Parents, It seems like I just typed a newsletter. The weeks are flying by so quickly. Next week we will be working on the following topics: READING: MATH: +1 facts RELIGION: Introduction to Saints PHONICS/LANGUAGE ARTS: Letters Mm and Nn and activities SOCIAL STUDIES: IMPORTANT NEWS AND INFORMATION: 1. We will attend Mass on Friday, September 12. 2. School will dismiss at 2:00 on Monday, September 8 for a faculty meeting. Aftercare will be available. 3. Next week I will be testing general readiness skills for report cards. These skills will be tested: Telling their first and last name, parents’ first and last name, complete address (street and number, city and state), telephone number with area code, days of the week in sequence, identification of basic colors (blue, red, orange, yellow, purple, black, brown, white, green, and pink). I will also have students rote count to 25. Please practice these concepts at home. Thank you. 4. A BIG thank you to Mr. Biage and Mrs. Lewis who donated their time and worked an extra Bingo for our class. Due to their generosity, both earned $25.00 for our classroom to purchase needed class materials. 5. Thank you to the following students and families for donations this week: Box tops: Gracie, Ellie, Isabelle, Makynzie Labels: Makynzie Treasure box: Fiona, Alexis, Aubriauna, Sarah, Ethan Chief Chef: Mrs. Lewis for the USA cake - I was telling her after the Canada cake for our Olympic country that we were doing a different country each week starting with USA J Float maker: Mrs. Bruett 6. We have 259 box tops for September. Our goal is 1,600 for September too. Keep collecting those box tops!!! 7. Do you know what is in the mystery box? Here are this week’s clues: 1. It’s in the sky. 2. You see it at night. 3. It can be quarter, half, or full. Thank you to Ellie and family for this week’s object and clues. R.J’s object last week was a dolphin. The mystery box will go home with Payton for next week. 8. Thank you to everyone who contributed ice cream for our float sale.
