Dear Parents,

What a great start to the school year!  We have learned a lot already.  Next week we will be working on the following topics:

READING:  Color words, rhymes, concepts of print, introduction to syllables
MATH:  Patterns AB ABB
RELIGION:  Glory Be prayer, Sign of the Cross
LANGUAGE/PHONICS:  Letters Cc and Dd
SOCIAL STUDIES:  Being a good citizen

IMPORTANT NEWS AND INFORMATION:

1. We will attend Mass on Friday, August 1.  Please do not wear shorts on Mass days.  Students can put Dennis Uniform shorts in their book bag to change into after Mass.
2. Please stop in and meet Mrs. Pat who assists in our classroom each day.  She is a WONDERFUL asset to our classroom.
3. We go the gym each morning around 8:25 for morning announcements.  If you are running late and come in after that time, please bring your child to the gym.  The classroom door is generally locked.
4. If you have not already done so, please send in 8 first-class stamps for our senior partner project.  A description of the project is in the orange folders handed out at parent orientation.
5. Our school has a goal of 1,600 box tops for the months of July/August.  Each month a goal is set and if we reach our goal, the students earn a free-dress day.  Both the goal and the free-dress date are set by Miss Croy and will be announced in weekly newsletters.  We already have 642 box tops.  Thank you to Payton and Sarah for box tops this week.
6. If you have any questions regarding information in the orange folders please feel free to stop in and ask.
7. The sign up sheet is available in my classroom for any parent who would like to volunteer to be a room mothers or donate party supplies.  If you did not see us at last night’s orientation, please stop in and sign up.  Our class would appreciate your generosity.  Thanks.

Thanks for a great first week.  Have a nice weekend!

Mrs. Lukas
