- September 17, 2007 BLESSING OF OUR PETS SERVICE Friday, September 21st, we will have a special "Blessing of our Pets" service beginning at 8:35 on the school parking lot. We are really looking forward to this as a great experience for the students. By necessity, there are a few ground rules for us to attempt this and still keep all animals and students safe. First, HFS has no responsibility for YOUR pet at any point in time. The pets can only come IF a parent is available to bring it, stay with it outside until the service begins and can take it home at the conclusion of the blessing service. 1. Pets can come with parents and stay with parents until the students move to the parking lot. Students’ pets are NOT to be in the school. 2. Pets can only come if they are contained either in a cage, by a leash or some other acceptable method. (Only "holding them" is not acceptable) 3. For everyone’s best interest, exotic pets such as snakes, mice, lizards, tarantulas, etc. are not allowed. While I am certain God loves them too, I can not have them here. This is not a complete list of unacceptable pets; if you have questions, please call and ask before you bring the pet in question. We are looking for the general pets of dogs and cats. 4. Pets can only come for the blessing service and must have an immediate ride home afterwards. Pets cannot stay in the classrooms or any part of the building. Therefore, the parents must be available to stay during the blessing service and able to take the pet home immediately after the blessing. 5. After the blessing service is completed, the students will proceed to Friday’s School Mass. At this point, the animals exit via the parents to their wonderful loving homes. If you have questions regarding this procedure, please call the school office before Friday’s event. Thank you. Jean Day for Gene Research We are normally on October break when the city-wide Jean Day for Gene Research, sponsored by Provena United Samaritan Hospital, is held. So, we are going to "beat them to the punch" this year by holding our Jean Day for Gene Research on Thursday, September 20th! Students can wear jeans with a school appropriate shirt for $1.00. Staff pays $2.00 for the privilege on Thursday. Jean coupons are not valid on the 20th. Show your support on Thursday and enjoy wearing your jeans too! Last Day for Accelerated Reading (ReadUp) Testing and attaining of Accelerated Math Objectives for the first quarter is Friday, September 21st. No Student Attendance on Friday September 28th as all of the teachers will be attending the Diocesan Teacher Institute in Peoria. Don’t Forget…We are growing ever-closer to our Race For Education Day–Wednesday, September 26th. Plan to come to school and join your children for their hour of walking and/or running! We have great fun–I hope you can join us! Keep praying for good weather! Please note there have been some girl’s basketball schedule changes necessitated by the canceling of the St. Mary’s ball games. St, Mary’s in Westville is unable to field a team this year. |
