that was passed out at the Parents' Open House. Accelerated Math: This is a graded subject area on student report cards (3 - 8) again this year. Students are given the Star Math test to determine their correct placement on grade appropriate libraries. Students are expected to achieve at least 25 math objectives per quarter.. (This number could change depending on the time students have to work on the program in any given week.) Students in grades 4 - 8 have the end of the day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to work on Accelerated Math and at least one period of Math class time. This is an individualized program and students may carry their folders with them during the day and work on assignments when they have any extra time. They need to ask permission from the teacher to go to the computer lab and scan. Students should always have a practice generated by the program to work on. Exercises are printed for problem areas. Tests are printed when the student has done enough problems successfully to warrant a test. Tests and exercises are generated daily and given to the students in their homerooms. Objectives are obtained from tests completed. The student's math teacher is responsible for setting the number of objectives needed each week and in recording the grades in the RVS gradebook. Reports are given to math teachers on Friday mornings. |
